Walden Israel is one of the first Israeli venture capital funds dedicated to investing in early-stage start-ups. Our investment team comprises experienced entrepreneurs and our international affiliation spans twenty-five years of experience in building over four hundred early-stage companies.

Our Investment Philosophy Addresses the Needs of Entrepreneurs and Their Companies
At Walden Israel, we believe that venture capital is about more than investing money. We offer entrepreneurs a venture partnership of quality, integrity and commitment to a long-term relationship. We take an active role in our portfolio companies-from building teams and formulating strategies to sharing operational and marketing experience and global networking. We are very selective in our investments and we make a relatively small number of investments each year so that our portfolio companies receive our full attention to ensure their growth and success. Our professional team works closely with our companies and we strive to be very constructive with the resources and access we provide.

With over $185 million under management in three funds, Walden Israel concentrates investments in the following areas: Enterprise Software and e/c-Commerce Technology; Communication and Internet Infrastructure and Healthcare (See Portfolio).

Experienced Entrepreneurial Team

Walden Israel's team includes two investment professionals: Roni Hefetz and Eyal Kaplan. Each member of our investment team brings to the table proven track records from diversified entrepreneurial backgrounds.

We Help Our Companies Attract the Best Investors
in Follow On Rounds
Walden Israel's global network of corporate relationships and connections includes our close relationships with top-quality investors in our portfolio companies. The list includes AT&T Media One, Chase Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs, Frontier Ventures (Global Crossings), GE Capital, HarbourVest Partners, Mayfield Fund, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Sequoia Capital, Sevin Rosen, Sprout Group, USVP, Insight Capital, TL Ventures and many others. This extensive international network of investors, as well as suppliers and technology partners give our portfolio companies an unprecedented advantage in helping start-up companies expand their horizons to succeed in the international market. Many of our companies have been successful in raising money from such investors even in turbulent market conditions, with typically large rounds that can provide management with the cushion necessary to focus on their business.

Our Own Investors are Top-of-the-Line
Walden Israel has raised its funds from a select group of quality, experienced, and "blue chip" institutional and individual investors. Among them are: Allianz, Europe's leading insurance and financial services conglomerate; Goldman Sachs, one of the world's premiere investment banking and securities firms; HarbourVest, one of the largest, oldest and most prestigious private equity and fund of funds management group; TIAA-CREF, one of the largest asset management groups in the US which manages pension and institutional investments; and Verizon Asset Management, one of the most established pension funds in the US. In addition, we have a respectable list of individual and corporate investors, many of whom have tremendous experience and contacts in various industries. We also have a solid base of Israeli institutional investors including Gmulot (Israel's largest pension fund), Leumi Bank, Bank Hapoalim, and Bank Mizrachi.

Our Affiliation with the Walden Group Provides Entrepreneurs with a Diversified and Experienced International Venture Capital Network
Walden Israel was established in 1993 as an independent affiliate of The Walden Group of International Venture Capital Funds. Like our affiliated funds throughout the U.S. and the Pacific Rim, WaldenVC and Walden International, we maintain a clear focus: investing in early-stage start-ups and working closely with the entrepreneurial team to successful, long-lasting companies (See Strategy).

Since its founding in 1974 by Art Berliner and George Sarlo, the Walden Group has invested in over 400 companies and today manages over $3 billion. Many of these companies have reached revenues of hundreds of millions of dollars and a large number have achieved market capitalizations in excess of $500 million. While Walden Israel operates independently and we make our own investment decisions, we work closely with the rest of the Walden Group to provide value to our companies.

With our established base of over twenty professionals in the Silicon Valley, we provide Israeli start-ups with the essential contacts and market know-how when venturing to the US market. Walden International was one of the earliest venture capital firms in the Pacific Rim. By leveraging Walden International's leadership in Southeast Asia, we provide contacts to market, suppliers and marketing and technology partners in this region--one of the fastest growing in the world.

Walden International
Established in 1987, Walden International is a group of international venture capital funds in the U.S. and Asia Pacific region, with approximately $2 billion in assets under management. Walden International provides seed and start-up capital for emerging growth companies, as well as capital for expansion financing and acquisitions. Since its inception, Walden International has established 33 venture capital funds in the U.S. and Asia and invested in more than 278 companies in the U.S. and Asia Pacific. In striving towards a global presence, Walden International has built a substantial network and foundation in the Asia Pacific region, and formed strategic alliances with major investment companies in Australia, Japan and Europe. Founder and Chairman Lip-Bu Tan was one of the early pioneers in venture capital in the Pacific Rim. Creative Labs, Premisys, Terayon, Transmeta, Sina.com, Centillium, and Sonoma Systems are among Walden International's portfolio companies.

WaldenVC
WaldenVC was founded in 1997 as a natural extension of the Walden Group to focus on the US market and invest in four areas of media technology: Advertising and Direct Marketing; ecommerce Infrastructure; Entertainment and Communications; and Information and Education Services. WaldenVC was instrumental in bringing a number of success stories to the public, including DigitalThink, bamboo.com. AdKnowledge, and people3. With Steve Eskenazi building its media technology practice, WaldenVC's general partners include investment bankers, research analysts, and industry executives from the Internet and New Media industries. WaldenVC is supported by many of the leading corporate investors in these industries.
