Walden Israel has adopted a focused strategy of investing in early-stage companies. We are usually the lead investor and are very selective in our investments. We specialize our investments within a number of selective industries:

Enterprise Software and e/c-Commerce Technology
Software platforms (management, monitoring, and security, as well as ASP applications and infrastructure); ecommerce (B2B and collaborative commerce platforms); next generation search and information management technologies.

Communications and Internet Infrastructure
Data and voice networking equipment (components, sub-systems and systems); optical communications networks; wireless communications (components, systems and software); equipment (servers, access devices, and network management devices); next generation telecom networks, and telecom software.

We have a deep understanding of these industries and our global connections help them penetrate international markets. After we invest in a company, we dedicate our organizational resources to help them shape their strategy, team up with customers and partners, expand their management and technical team, and attract suitable follow-on investors.

Walden Israel's investment strategy is built on a long-term partnership. We invest early and work very hard with management to expand the team, position the company, and bring the best and most suitable investors for a follow-on round. While seed financing may be as small as $250,000, our initial investment typically ranges from $1 million to $4 million, while over the life of the company our investment may grow to $10 million. We usually reserve funds to participate in follow-on rounds in our portfolio companies.

Our Global Network and Corporate Relationships
are Unmatched
We have one of the strongest venture capital-related networks in the world. Our global networks in Israel, the Silicon Valley, and the Pacific Rim enable us to provide the essential contacts and market know-how for portfolio companies when they venture to the US and other markets. Our network provides access to top-tier US venture funds, leading angel investors, and industry experts. Walden International was one of the earliest venture capital firms in the Pacific Rim. By leveraging Walden International's leadership in Southeast Asia, we provide contacts to the market, suppliers and marketing and technology partners in this region--one of the fastest growing in the world.

Our Experience Becomes Your Competitive Edge
Our investment team's experience as entrepreneurs, founders and early executives of start-up and technology companies is a key asset to our portfolio companies. The Walden Israel team is committed to providing its unparalleled expertise in management, marketing and strategic planning to start-up companies. We also provide assistance in ways that will give our start-ups a unique advantage, including services for executive recruiting, marketing communications, and organizational development consulting.

Our Hands-On Approach Means We're Involved
at Every Stage
Our investment team has a strong entrepreneurial technology background. We put our experience to work for talented entrepreneurs who are building their own companies. Our hands-on approach also draws expertise from our international network that has been on the venture capital scene for more than 26 years.

Many of our portfolio companies have experienced the advantages of Walden's local and global network and have come to rely on it profoundly. Examples abound: The founders of Terayon insisted that Walden Israel work together with VCs Sequoia and Weiss Peck and Grier, to help work with Israeli partners and customers. This collaboration resulted in one of the most successful IPO's of Israeli related companies. For Schema, we substantially helped strengthen and expand the management team, which included helping to recruit a new CEO, Yosi Ben-Dov. We were active participants in formulating Schema's strategies and business model, which resulted in a round of financing of $25 million during a difficult period in the market.
